Surfing with Seaweed

For most of us, seaweed is that creepy thing floating just below the surface of the water. It touches your foot when you're swimming, makes you yelp in fright, and, let's be honest, we have all thrown a handful of it at someone and watched in glee as they freak out! Seaweed does so much more than freak people out. It's a superfood, it's used in skincare, it's used to make biodegradable plastic, and its magical properties are used to treat a range of diseases from cancer to covid.

This talk and tidepool walk is the quickest way to join the seaweed nerd club by discovering the different seaweed species that grow along Goa's coastline with India's first seaweed food company The Good Ocean.

Interactive presentation:
Seaweed forests and the amazing diversity of species that live in them and the dangers they face Seaweed farms of the future! How they can help preserve these ecosystems, provide livelihoods, and feed the world. How we use seaweed and how we could going forward

Walk to the tidepool:
See it in the wild! Learn to identify different species. How, when and where they grow
The importance of interactions, see the myriad of other species that live and play in among the seaweed
