A LITTLE BIT ABOUT ULTIMATE

Ultimate frisbee or ultimate is a mixed-gender sport accessible to everyone, irrespective of age and gender. It’s now called ultimate because Frisbee is a trademarked name.
It’s only been around India for the last 10-15 years. It is probably the only team sport that doesn’t have a referee and relies on the ‘spirit’ of the players.

Goa Ultimate Association has sent a Goa club team called Gnash for several national tournaments, and at their best, they have come 4th on the national circuit which hosts close to 100 teams.

We love the sport and want more people to play it! We’re more than happy to organize a workshop during the surf festival, for free. We can however only manage one day. Here are the details.

​

Timings: 5:30 – 7:00 on Sunday

Limit: 25 people. We will up two small fields with cones.

​

Who can play: Absolutely anyone. Perhaps a lower age cap of 12. This is so they don’t get hurt with bigger people running around. (assuming there are more adults).

​

Registration: While walk-ins are absolutely fine, it would be nice to know how many people are coming for sure. Also with 25 people, we can manage 2 simultaneous games within our time frame.

Duration: 1.5 hours.

​

What to wear: Shorts and a shirt. We play barefoot since it’s on the beach. You will need to bring your own bottle of water.

​

What to expect: It’s going to be super fun! We will teach people basics for around 45 minutes and then move on to a fun game: How to throw a backhand and forehand. The best way to catch a disc. How to make a cut (a run towards an open area to receive the disc), how to defend. We will then explain the rules of the game and play a quick pick-up game for 45 minutes.
